Use the official Zenni lens-index guide, Warby Parker high-prescription page and Eyebuydirect lens-index page to begin the comparison. Availability of a material on a website is not confirmation that every frame and prescription combination is eligible.
Compare the frame before predicting lens thickness
Write down the candidate frame’s lens width, bridge, shape and overall fit. The final result depends on the prescription, lens design, material and how the lenses are positioned in the frame. Do not compare two lens indexes while ignoring a large change in frame size.
Zenni’s thinner-lens guidance also discusses frame size and shape. Ask the seller what it can say about the particular frame and your full prescription. A generic product photo cannot promise the edge thickness or weight of your pair.
For a frame reference, use our guide to matching a comfortable pair. A smaller-looking design still needs a comfortable bridge and suitable overall dimensions.
Keep the material charge separate from prescription charges
Ask each seller for the same lens design, material and coating. Include every prescription entry, not just the sphere. Cylinder, axis, any additional prescription requirements and the selected frame can affect what the seller can supply. Request confirmation before paying if the range is unclear.
Our everyday base pair is $79. Optional 1.67 material adds $45, making $124 before coatings and applicable stronger-prescription charges. Standard anti-reflective coating adds $35. A higher-index choice does not automatically remove our prescription surcharge.
For an illustrative eligible single-vision order with −6.00 sphere in each eye and no cylinder, the stronger-prescription charge is $20: two diopters beyond the ±4.00 sphere threshold per lens, at $5 per extra diopter. With 1.67 and standard AR, the worked total is $79 + $45 + $35 + $20 = $179. This example is not a material recommendation or guaranteed acceptance of a frame.
Check eligibility, support and remedies before ordering
Fast Eyeglasses currently sells eligible corrective single-vision pairs and ships only to Michigan, Delaware, Oregon and Montana. We do not supply progressives, bifocals or prism orders. See the prescription policy and strong-prescription cost guide for the ordering details.
Ask every shortlisted seller how it handles a prescription that cannot be made in the selected frame, a manufacturing error and a pair that simply does not fit as expected. Those are different situations and can have different remedies.
Our custom orders do not have change-of-mind or fit returns. Compare that term with the other retailers’ current policies, and decide whether hands-on fitting or a broader return option matters more than a small quote difference.
Compare your shortlist with the wider guide
Our 10-place online glasses comparison offers a broader shortlist. Use it to choose two or three stores, then compare the same prescription, frame dimensions, lens features and complete price. Keep the final quote and policy together so the decision remains clear after a sale banner changes.
Common shopping questions
Does a high-index upgrade include every extra prescription charge?
Not necessarily. At Fast Eyeglasses, the optional material price and applicable stronger-prescription charges are separate.
Can a retailer’s high-index page confirm my order is eligible?
No. Confirm the full prescription, lens design and selected frame with the seller before relying on a material listing.
