Start with the reflection you actually notice
A bright rectangle across your lenses on a video call is a different problem from small text looking blurred. Anti-reflective coating, often called AR or anti-glare, is designed to reduce reflections at the lens surface. It does not change the prescription. Before buying an upgrade, note whether the distraction comes from a ceiling light, a window reflected in the lens, or light bouncing off the monitor itself.
Try moving the desk lamp to one side and adjusting the camera angle. An office pair should work at the distances you use, whether that is a laptop, a larger monitor or paper beside the keyboard. A coating cannot make the wrong working-distance prescription correct.
Compare three separate choices
| Choice | Question it answers |
|---|---|
| Prescription and lens design | What distances is this pair intended to correct? |
| AR coating | How are unwanted lens-surface reflections reduced? |
| Blue-light filtering | What wavelengths does the specific lens filter? |
These labels are not interchangeable. Do not treat a blue-light label as proof of less eye strain or protection against screen-related eye damage. The American Academy of Ophthalmology discusses the limits of those claims. Comfortable lighting, suitable correction and regular breaks still matter.
An office-pair price example
At Fast Eyeglasses, an everyday complete pair starts at $79 with standard single vision lenses. Standard anti-glare adds $35, making that example $114. Crizal Easy adds $50, making the same base example $129. That is a $15 difference between the two coating choices, before any other upgrades or prescription-strength charges.
Compare the current lens options and written warranty terms. Ask which specific coating is included; a broad word such as “premium” is not a specification. Use our cost calculator to keep the rest of the order the same while comparing.
Test the whole setup before buying twice
Look through your current pair at the actual screen distance, then look at the camera preview with the light in two different positions. Clean the lenses using an approved method before judging reflections. If text stays blurred or discomfort persists, ask your eye-care professional about the correction and working distance instead of adding coatings by trial and error.
