Oregon makes buying glasses online simple in one way that most states don't: there's no sales tax. The price you see is the price you pay. If you have a current prescription, here's how to buy prescription glasses online in Oregon, what it costs and how to pick the right lenses.
What you need
- Your eyeglass prescription, with SPH, CYL and Axis for each eye. A contact lens prescription won't work. Here's why contact and glasses prescriptions differ.
- Your PD. It's sometimes on the prescription. If not, measure your PD at home with a mirror and a ruler.
- An Oregon shipping address anywhere in the state: Portland, Salem, Eugene, Bend, Medford, the coast or the high desert.
What it costs
Our everyday frames are $79 including single vision prescription lenses, and prescription safety glasses are $149. Shipping to Oregon is free, and since Oregon has no sales tax, that's your total unless you add upgrades.
Upgrades are optional and priced as you go: polycarbonate +$15, hi-index 1.67 +$45, anti-glare from +$35 and light-adaptive lenses from +$55. Very strong prescriptions (beyond ±4.00 sphere or 3.00 cylinder) add a small charge, shown before you pay.
Lenses that make sense in Oregon
Western Oregon is gray and wet much of the year. Central and eastern Oregon are sunny and bright. Your lenses can handle both:
- Anti-glare for rainy night driving. Wet pavement plus headlights creates a lot of glare on I-5 and US-26 after dark. Anti-glare reduces the reflections and halos, and it makes screen time easier too.
- Photochromic for sunny days. If you spend weekends in Bend, at Smith Rock or on the coast when the sun comes out, photochromic or Transitions lenses darken outside and clear up indoors.
- Polycarbonate for kids and the outdoors. It's light and impact-resistant, good for hiking, biking and kids' glasses.

How ordering works
- Choose a frame from all frames, or start with a shape: round, rectangle or cat-eye.
- Pick your lens material, anti-glare and tint. Prices show next to each option.
- Type in your prescription and PD, or upload a photo of your prescription. Every order is checked.
- Check out with PayPal or a card through PayPal.
Getting the right fit when you buy glasses online
The easiest way to get frames that fit is to copy a pair you already like. Look inside the arm for three numbers, like 52□18-140. Those are lens width, bridge width and temple length. Here's what the numbers on glasses mean. Stay within a couple of millimeters on lens width and you'll be close. Not sure which shape suits you? Try the face shape guide.
