Ordering prescription glasses online with astigmatism

A CYL and AXIS on your prescription do not mean you have to guess your way through checkout. Copy the complete prescription and check the details before you pay.

A practical prescription-ordering guide from Fast Eyeglasses.

Bring the full eyeglass prescription

When ordering prescription glasses online with astigmatism, use your current eyeglass prescription, not a contact-lens prescription or a remembered lens power. Keep the original document beside the order form so you can check every field.

SPH, CYL and AXIS are separate entries. Copy the plus or minus sign on CYL exactly and keep each eye’s AXIS with that eye. Do not change the signs or convert the prescription yourself to make it look like an example online. Our astigmatism prescription explainer provides background; this guide focuses on placing the order.

If a number is unclear, ask the prescriber or contact us with a clear copy before ordering. A cropped photo that loses one eye or an important note is not a useful substitute for the full document.

Check the zero-SPH case carefully

A prescription can have zero SPH and a nonzero CYL. Do not omit CYL and AXIS just because the sphere says PL or 0.00. At our checkout, a nonzero cylinder requires an axis from 1 to 180.

We currently sell corrective single-vision glasses, not fully nonprescription plano pairs. Zero power for one eye is allowed when the prescription still requires correction in the other eye; a cylinder-only correction is also different from a fully zero-power pair.

We do not currently fill ADD, bifocal, progressive or prism prescriptions. If the prescription has those entries, ask about your options rather than deleting them to get through checkout.

Keep prescription accuracy and frame fit separate

Compare frame measurements with a pair that fits well. Choose a size you have checked rather than assuming every frame shown under a face-shape category will fit. The current-pair fit guide explains what to compare.

Enter your measured PD in the right format. One number is a total PD; two numbers represent separate eyes. If your uploaded prescription contains PD, use the checkout option for that. If you do not have the measurement, follow our buying without PD guide before placing the order.

Lens material and coating are additional decisions, not replacements for the prescribed numbers. Ask about suitable materials if you are unsure what to choose for your prescription.

Review the price and custom-order terms

Everyday Fast Eyeglasses pairs start at $79 with standard CR-39 single-vision lenses. Coatings, alternative materials and applicable stronger-prescription charges add to the price. Compare the final configuration, not only the starting price.

Most basic pairs ship within two business days, with carrier transit afterward. We currently ship to Michigan, Delaware, Oregon and Montana. Read the custom prescription return terms: style, fit and incorrectly entered prescription or PD numbers do not qualify for a free change-of-mind remake.

Before paying, compare the order form with the document once more, one eye at a time. Save your confirmation and prescription together.

Questions about ordering

Can I order online if my prescription has CYL and AXIS?

Eligible single-vision prescriptions with cylinder correction can be entered at checkout. Copy all fields exactly and contact us if your prescription needs an option we do not offer.

Does zero SPH mean I should leave CYL out?

No. Copy a nonzero CYL and its AXIS as prescribed. A zero sphere with cylinder correction is not a fully nonprescription plano pair.
