Keep the setup simple
Try the makeup, wig and glasses together before the event. Notice where makeup transfers onto the bridge or temple areas. Adjust the costume so the frame is not being pushed against a sticky surface. A familiar frame and a simple character can be easier to manage than several competing accessories.
Follow the lens-care instructions
Use the care method recommended for the actual lenses and coating. Do not assume a product intended for removing face paint is suitable for eyewear. Keep a clean appropriate cloth nearby, and avoid wiping lenses with rough costume fabric. Store the glasses safely while makeup is being applied or removed.
Leave room around the eyes
Follow cosmetic directions and keep products away from the eyes and lens surfaces. If a mask blocks the wearer’s view or collides with glasses, choose a different arrangement. The outfit should work around comfortable vision rather than asking the wearer to tolerate an obstructive prop.
Make the next morning easier
Put the case somewhere predictable and check the frame after the event. If there is damage or the fit has changed, ask for help rather than repeatedly forcing a hinge or bending an arm. The best party kit is the one that still leaves your everyday glasses usable afterward.
