The quick answer
Separate glare filtering from lens color
| Compare | Question to ask | Do not assume |
|---|---|---|
| Polarization | Is the exact lens polarized? | A gray or brown tint automatically filters reflected glare |
| Tint | What color and transmission suit the conditions? | A darker lens is better for every time of day |
| UV specification | What UVA and UVB protection is stated? | Polarized automatically means full UV protection |
| Correction | Is this your appropriate current eyeglass prescription? | Sunglass styling substitutes for prescribed lenses |
| Protection | What protection is appropriate for the activity? | Ordinary sunglasses are certified protection against hooks or impact |
The American Academy of Ophthalmology explains polarized lenses as a reflected-glare choice. Filtering can help with glare from water, but this guide does not promise that you will see every fish, submerged obstacle or navigation hazard.
Describe the water, light and equipment
Tell the provider whether you usually fish from a bank, kayak or boat and what conditions you expect. Include early or late outings and shaded water. Lens choice should not depend only on a bright midday product photograph.
Check any phone, chartplotter or other display with the exact polarized lens when possible. Readability can depend on the display and viewing angle. Do not rely on a claim that every screen behaves the same.
Ask about frame fit under your usual hat and any appropriate retention or protective equipment supplied by a suitable provider. Fast Eyeglasses does not offer an accessories category or guarantee that a particular frame will stay put in every activity.
Know the difference between available and selectable
Our current online solid-tint choices are gray and brown. Polarized lenses are not selectable in checkout; ask about polarized availability before buying a pair for that specific feature.
An everyday $79 base pair plus the $20 solid-tint option gives a $99 example before other upgrades or applicable stronger-prescription charges. That example is an ordinary tint configuration, not a polarized-price quote.
Photochromic and Transitions GEN S options are listed separately. Ask about suitability for the actual activity and lighting rather than treating light-adaptive lenses as the same thing as polarized fishing lenses.
Check the complete pair before a trip
Use the current prescribed correction for the task and measured PD. We currently make eligible corrective single-vision lenses, with no bifocals, progressives, prism or fully nonprescription plano pairs.
Compare frame measurements and custom-order return terms. Most basic pairs ship within two business days and carrier transit follows; allow for both before an outing.
For a broader two-pair comparison, see matching clear glasses and sunglasses. For the current selections, see prescription sunglasses ordering information.
Common eyewear questions
Is the $20 solid tint a polarized upgrade?
No. The online solid tint is gray or brown. Polarized availability and price need confirmation before ordering.
Will polarized glasses guarantee I can see underwater hazards?
No. Reflected-glare filtering is not a guarantee of visibility or safe navigation; conditions and other factors still matter.
