Ordering glasses for a parent: an Oregon family helper’s checklist
Helping a parent shop online can be useful without taking over the decision. Start by agreeing on what they want help with: comparing frames, uploading a prescription or reviewing the order. For Oregon family helpers, the best purchase record is clear about whose glasses they are and who will receive questions about them.

Agree on the task before opening checkout
Your parent may want help navigating a website while still making every style and price decision themselves. Ask which parts you should handle and which they want to review. Do not assume that helping with a computer means permission to make a purchase or share their health information.
Keep the prescription and other personal records in an appropriate private location. Use the wearer’s instructions for contact details and access to order information. A short, clear conversation now is easier than sorting out why order questions went to a person who cannot answer them.
Gather the correct prescription record
Use a current eyeglass prescription rather than copying numbers from memory or substituting a contact lens prescription. Have the PD available and retain right and left labels exactly as supplied. If a record is unclear, ask the prescriber rather than filling the gap with a guess.
Fast Eyeglasses currently fills single vision distance or reading prescriptions. An ADD, bifocals, progressives or specialized requirements need discussion before ordering. We do not currently make bifocals or progressives, so check eligibility before the wearer becomes attached to a frame.
Let the wearer explain what fits
Ask them to show you a comfortable pair and describe any problems they want to avoid. Photograph the printed dimensions, then compare bridge design and overall proportions as well as the numbers. Their experience wearing the frame matters more than the helper’s preferred style.
Make a small shortlist instead of presenting dozens of open tabs. Compare two or three options by size, shape, color and completed price. If a hands-on fitting is needed, arrange that rather than treating an online comparison as a substitute.
Review one finished order together
Everyday Fast Eyeglasses pairs start at $79 with standard single vision lenses. Optional upgrades and stronger-prescription charges can change the total. Confirm the selected frame, lenses, prescription, PD, delivery address and final price with the wearer before payment.
Shipping to Oregon is free. Most basic pairs ship within 2 business days, with transit afterward. Explain the custom-order terms: fit and change-of-mind returns are not accepted. Agree who will check delivery and contact the store with any issue, then save the final details in the private record you established together.
