The costume eyewear order checklist
How to Order Plano Glasses for Costumes and Cosplay
The easiest costume-glasses order is one where the seller knows exactly what you mean. Use this checklist before paying for non-prescription glasses, especially when a convention, performance or photo session has a fixed date.
Step 1: Establish what the wearer needs
If you normally wear corrective glasses, ask about making the character’s look with your actual prescription. Fully plano lenses do not provide that correction. If you do not need corrective lenses and only want the frame style, look for a seller that explicitly accepts fully non-prescription orders. Do not use a corrective-only form as a workaround. In particular, PL in one prescription field does not mean that every other field can be ignored.
Step 2: Ask for wearable lenses, not just the display pair
Use plain language: “I want clear, non-prescription lenses for wearing with a costume. Are these wearable plano lenses or demo inserts?” Ask what material is supplied, whether lens replacement is included and whether optional AR is available. A frame-only price may not include finished wearable lenses. Keep the seller’s written answer with the order confirmation so the actual product and the listing description can be compared.
Step 3: Measure the costume setup
Start with a frame that already feels comfortable and note the lens width, bridge width and temple length. Measurements may be printed on an arm or bridge. Then check the new frame’s measurements and the space needed beneath a wig, hat or headset. Costume needs are often different from a product photograph: long temple tips can interfere with a close-fitting hood, and a tall frame may collide with a mask. Ask about fitting before ordering custom work.
Step 4: Choose coatings for the use, not the buzzwords
For portraits and screen work, ask about an anti-reflective coating and test it with your lighting. A small residual reflection may remain. For an evening outdoors, do not choose a dark tint merely because the character wears one in a film. Lens color, reflection reduction, UV specifications and impact protection are different claims. Get the actual specifications rather than assuming that a fashion accessory provides all of them.
Step 5: Check the complete total and the date
Confirm the frame, finished lenses, coating, shipping, taxes and any fitting cost. Read the return policy before ordering, particularly for custom lenses. Ask whether the delivery estimate starts at purchase or after clarification and production approval. Tell the seller the real event date and request a realistic answer. For a last-minute Halloween costume, a comfortable existing pair can be a better plan than relying on an unconfirmed shipment.
A message you can copy to a seller
“Hi, I need a non-prescription costume pair for [event date]. Do you accept fully plano orders? Does the price include clear wearable lenses rather than display inserts? What are the frame dimensions, AR options, complete price and delivery estimate? What happens if the frame does not fit?” Fast Eyeglasses currently does not accept fully plano checkout orders, so this checklist is general buying guidance. For our corrective single-vision options, use your genuine prescription and measured PD, and contact us before ordering if anything is unclear.
