Without the try-on · Build a better shortlist

Make a frame-fit passport before you buy glasses without a try-on

Create a practical record of the glasses you already wear, so your next online frame comparison starts with fit evidence.

The most useful shopping tool may already be on your face. A frame-fit passport is a short record of the pair you actually enjoy wearing: not just three numbers, but what fits, what moves and what you would change. Make it once and you have a better starting point for every online shortlist.

Record the identity before the measurements fade

Look for the manufacturer or brand, model name or code, color code and size markings. Check both temple arms and the bridge; the information may be split across locations. Photograph the markings clearly for your own reference.

Write down which pair you are documenting and when you made the record. If you own a distance pair and a reading pair, do not combine their details into one imaginary set of glasses. Keep each frame’s information beside its intended use. This record is about the frame, not a substitute for the prescription supplied by your eye care professional.

Add the comfort information a product page cannot see

Describe a normal day in that pair. Does it stay in position when you look down? Does it meet your cheeks when you smile? Does a headset change the feel behind your ears? Record an observation rather than a guessed solution.

Use two short columns: keep and change. Keep might include a bridge that stays comfortable or a shape you wear confidently. Change might be a temple that meets your headphones or a front that feels too broad. If the frame needs repeated adjustment, have the fit assessed before treating it as the ideal reference.

Use the passport to compare, not to promise

When a new frame catches your eye, compare the listed size and visible construction with your record. Mark the differences. Similar numbers narrow the search, but they do not establish identical bridge geometry, total width or weight.

At Fast Eyeglasses, start with the shop filters and product details. If an important dimension is not listed, ask whether it can be confirmed for the exact model and size. A useful passport makes your question precise: you can explain what works now and what the new frame would change, rather than asking support to guess your fit from a selfie.
